Italy: on September Sundays, the ban starts at 07:00

The official calendar confirms 07:00–22:00 on 20 and 27 September. The Italy page has been corrected; the news archive stays as it was.

CP Newsroom

The baseline ban on goods vehicles over 7.5 tonnes, on Italian roads outside built-up areas, runs 07:00–22:00 on Sunday 20 and Sunday 27 September 2026. It is set out in annex A of ministerial decree 325/2025, page 15. Those are Italian local times — 06:00–21:00 UK time.

What was corrected

Our Italy page listed September under the indicative 09:00–22:00 period. Reading the decree confirms that September still starts at 07:00; Sundays in October go back to 09:00. We have corrected the Italy driving bans page and are publishing this clarification separately from the European planning guide of 3 September, which stays in the archive.

International journeys

Article 3 of the same decree allows the start to be put back by four hours for vehicles arriving from abroad, with proof of where the journey started and where the load is going. Article 1 requires entry to take place on the day of the ban itself. For loads bound for another country, with documentary proof, the end can be brought forward by two hours. Other conditions exist, including the case of a single driver whose rest ends after the ban has begun.

These rules do not let every foreign lorry drive freely. Check how your operation fits the decree and arrange parking before the applicable hours.
