    Usually 07:00 → 22:00

The summer period extends the ban into the morning.

  • Heavy-traffic dates

Saturdays and the eve of public holidays in August

The annual decree adds days outside the Sunday pattern.

Most common exemptions

  • Perishable goods, live animals and milk transport
  • Combined transport, on the leg between the terminal and the origin or destination
  • Emergency, rescue and assistance vehicles

Exemptions vary from country to country and almost always depend on paperwork on board proving what the load is.

Planning notes

The Italian calendar (calendario dei divieti di circolazione) is issued every year by ministerial decree and is the document to carry on board. Unlike the German model, here the times change through the year: in summer the ban starts earlier, and some Saturdays in August are included.

For anyone running the Alpine corridor, planning does not end with the calendar: the tunnels have their own rules on quotas and spacing between lorries, and an environmental restriction on the Austrian side can force a whole trip to be rerouted.
