Planning notes
Belgium does not close the road to lorries at weekends, which makes it a useful option to claw back time on a tight schedule. The cost shows up elsewhere: the Viapass per-kilometre toll applies from 3.5 tonnes and requires on-board equipment, and the low-emission zones in Brussels, Antwerp and Ghent automatically fine anyone entering without prior registration.
The most common offence by foreign operators in the country is not about driving: it is about registration. Entering the LEZ with an eligible vehicle that has not been registered still earns a fine.
