All Saints' Day: Spain restricts heavy goods vehicles from 30 October to 2 November, with a cut on the A-62 for hauliers coming from Portugal

The DGT closes Madrid exits and entries on four different days, from Friday to the following Monday, because of All Saints' Day (1 November, which falls on a Sunday this year). For hauliers crossing between Spain and Portugal, the most direct cut is again on the A-62, towards the Portuguese border, on Friday and Saturday.

All Saints’ Day falls on a Sunday this year, 1 November, so the DGT extends heavy-vehicle restrictions over four days, from Friday 30 October to Monday 2 November. It’s the second major restriction period in Spain in under a month, after the Pilar bridge in October.

Day by day, per the DGT calendar

  • 30/10 (Friday), 4pm–10pm: Madrid exits via the A-1, A-2, A-3 (both directions), A-4, A-5 (both directions), A-6/AP-6 up to Tordesillas, radial roads R-2 to R-5, N-6 and M-501. Also the A-62 between Cabezón de Pisuerga and Tordesillas, towards the Portuguese border, 3pm–11pm; A-3 Valencia entry, 3pm–10pm; A-8 Castro-Urdiales–Laredo, 5pm–9pm.
  • 31/10 (Saturday): the same Madrid exits, now between 8am and 1pm/3pm; the A-62 towards Portugal closes again, 8am–3pm; A-8, 11am–2pm.
  • 1/11 (Sunday, All Saints’ Day): only the A-8, between Laredo and Castro-Urdiales, towards Bilbao, 4pm–9pm — the only general cut on the holiday itself.
  • 2/11 (Monday), 4pm–10pm/midnight: entries into Madrid via the A-1 to A-6, AP-6, AP-51, AP-61, N-6, N-110, N-603 and M-501; A-62 Tordesillas–Valladolid towards Burgos, 4pm–11pm; A-1/AP-1/N-1 Burgos–Vitoria, 4pm–9pm; A-3 Valencia exit, 3pm–9pm.
  • Dangerous goods: on 1/11, 8am–3pm nationwide and until midnight in the Balearic Islands, Cantabria, Galicia, Murcia, La Rioja and the Comunitat Valenciana; on 2/11, 8am–midnight in Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, the Canary Islands, Castile-La Mancha, Castile and León, Extremadura and Madrid.

What changes for hauliers coming from Portugal

The point that directly affects the Spain-Portugal route repeats the Pilar bridge pattern: the A-62 between Cabezón de Pisuerga and Tordesillas, towards the Portuguese border, closes to heavy goods vehicles on Friday 30/10 (3pm-11pm) and Saturday 31/10 (8am-3pm). Anyone heading from Castile and León to the border should plan departure outside these windows.

On the holiday itself, Sunday 1 November, there is no general cut on that stretch — only the usual nationwide restriction on dangerous goods.

Italy: after meeting with Salvini, diesel protest ends in Calabria and Sicily, but continues in Campania and Puglia

Infrastructure Minister Matteo Salvini met transport associations on 20 October in Milan. The outcome: the protest ended in Calabria (as already planned) and the strike was revoked in Sicily — but pickets continue in Campania and Puglia, with one organiser admitting the protest could run until 27 October without a written agreement. Sources disagree on the exact amount of funds unblocked.
