Check on the Tyrolean A12 finds 617 driving and rest time offences
The operation on 8 and 9 September inspected 230 vehicles. The results were published by the European Labour Authority.
A joint operation on the A12 in the Austrian Tyrol on 8 and 9 September found 617 breaches of the driving and rest time rules. The European Labour Authority published the results on 11 September.
230 vehicles were inspected and 188 drivers checked. The total number of offences is not the number of offending drivers: a single check can record several.
The operation targeted heavy goods vehicles in international transport and looked at tachographs, posting of workers, road safety and other obligations. Austrian authorities took part along with specialists from six other Member States, supported by the ELA.
189 technical defects were also identified. The report documents a completed operation; it does not announce a new traffic restriction on the A12.
